lb Burnstein: Seconday artist research

Ib Burnstein is an American artist that creates life like portraits which are also three dimensional. He uses materials such as copper and other metals to mould and shape into people or objects. His work is often based within plain stone frames so it becomes work that balances between 3D and fine art which is also what I want my work to do as I have done several portraits in my sketchbook and would like to bring them to life in a 3D way and Burnstein does this. I am also drawn to the simplicity of his work and how he uses the basic movement of a person to show an emotion as well as using little colour in his work however I would like to use colours that link to my subject such as red, black and dark purple as this to me helps my piece to be clear as to what it represents and I also believe that colour can express moods and emotions I will be doing further research on colours and the moods they have on people as if I am to be using colours in my work I want them to correspond with the theme and what I want my work to express.

During my time researching artists I have not came across many art works that has the same style and designs e.g. a person crawling out of a frame because of this I am also intrigued to the work, this has lead me to cadets designs that are based in a deep frame e.g. One of my designs based in a frame which I have also developed.
